A local, independent, non-profit organization, United Way of the Valley and the Greater Utica Area has been developing strategies and pulling together financial and human resources to address the underlying causes of the most significant local issues for more than 86 years.

United Way of the Valley and the Greater Utica Area funds more than 70 programs at local health and human services agencies and acts in cooperation with these local agencies to provide essential services to children, youth and adults and to support safe and thriving neighborhoods.

Money allocated to these programs is raised through the generosity of individuals, businesses and organizations through our annual campaign, special projects, public and private grants and various other sources of income.

Our United Way is governed by a diverse board of local volunteers to whom we are accountable. This local volunteer board sets policy in the best interest of our community, and our staff of professionals implements and guides these policies.

United Way of the Valley and the Greater Utica Area remains committed to its mission: To promote individual well being, strengthen families and improve the quality of life in our community.
