A created 1840ís canal village on the site where the first shovelful of earth was turned for the Erie Canal on July 4, 1817. Mule drawn boat rides and train excursions, a collection of historic buildings, museums, demonstrations, restaurant, canal store, tavern and gift shop. Open 10-5 Wednesday-Saturday and Sunday 12-5. Memorial-Labor Day and weekends only in September. Available for groups by reservation. Open October and December for special events.
